Westerbork Serenade is a love story about Rob de Vries, a young Amsterdam Jew, that takes place during the second world war. He falls in love with a beautiful Jewish girl and is devastated when she is sent to a concentration camp. Rob decides to save her, but when he finds her, she doesn’t want to leave..
The story was turned into a play by Edwin de Vries, Rob’s son, and performed by Edwin en Sammie de Vries, Rob’s grandson. The play had a national tour in Holland and got a four star review in a popular Dutch theater newspaper.
